Apple's bait and switch-- Wait what was the problem again?

Today, Apple released the information that they were "stunned" that the formula that they have been using to calculate signal since the release of the IPhone has been incorrect. Basically, Apple's old formula artificially increased shown signal strength by 2 bars, in affect doubling what signal strength actually exists. So, imagine their astonishment when they went back to the drawing board and discovered this error! WOW!

So Apple promises an update for the 3G, 3GS and 4 to fix this over-inflation of the signal bars in a couple of weeks. OK, so the logic goes, when we have shitty signal and we drop calls and the IPhone says we have have full signal and we actually have 50% signal, Apple's warp logic says that it is because we thought we had full signal and we don't. But that still doesn't explain why when I compare my 3g IPhone and my 4 Iphone making calls from the exact same places (home and work), the call quality on my 3G is way better than my 4.The call quality will not improve with this update-- only the stated signal strength. Witness the bait and switch suckers!
